For a large group like Meta, advertising plays a major role in quarterly revenue. To attract advertisers and increase the attractiveness around their ads, you have to know how to innovate and offer new solutions. This is precisely what Mark Zuckerberg’s company did today in its Meta Connect 2024 developer conference. Meta unveiled the possibility of including AI-powered chatbots directly in the ads displayed on Facebook.

What if this was the real revolution in online advertising?

With hundreds of millions of people logging in every day, apps like Facebook, Instagram, and Threads have huge potential for ad revenue. Every year, Mark Zuckerberg and his team wonder what they can do to increase ad revenue and make it easier for advertisers to grab users’ attention without being invasive. Meta’s latest idea is a pretty good one, as the company announced that advertisers can include AI-powered chatbots directly into the sponsored post on Facebook starting today.

The principle is simple. You see an ad in your Facebook news feed, it contains (as always) a text, an image and a link to allow you to switch to the purchase site. However, there is a difference… the ad displays a “Send a message” button.

When a user presses the “Send Message” button, they are immediately redirected to a chatbot on WhatsApp or Messenger. Behind the conversation, the customer does not chat with an employee, but with an artificial intelligence that has been trained to know everything about the company’s offers, products, services and subscriptions.

The advantage of such an approach, according to Meta, is that it offers 24/7 “customer service” to anyone interested in advertising:

From answering common customer questions to discussing products and completing a purchase, these sales AIs can help businesses engage with more customers and increase sales.

With this new approach, Meta assures that the returns will quickly be positive, whether it is for a company that sells clothes or a company that provides internet subscriptions. The goal behind this idea is to provide more information to customers without the company having to hire staff for this activity.

Meta assured that there are already more than a million advertisers using its AI advertising tools and that user engagement rates are much higher than with tools without artificial intelligence.

Other AI tools that Meta offers to its advertisers include ad optimization through advanced targeting algorithms, automatic creation of personalized visual content, and predictive analytics tools to better anticipate consumer behavior and adjust campaigns in real time.
