For a decade now, we have seen futuristic prototypes of a possible iPhonewith all screen, and without anything that bothers us, no notch, no dynamic island, not even edges, no matter how thin they are, leaving space only for this one, something difficult to achieve, but it would be close.
And rumors suggest that, by 2027, we may have it. The foldable iPhone would arrive first next year, and, later, on the 20th anniversary of the phone, a model only with a screen, very futuristic, and that we would all love.
iPhone only with screen
Apple has been pursuing the idea of iPhone without holes, without notch and without dynamic island. That clean front, all screen, that many have imagined for a long time. According to the most recent information, Apple not only wants to do it, but would already have a fairly clear roadmap to get there… albeit with patience.
The idea is not to take the leap all at once, but to do it in phases. In future models, starting with the 2026 iPhone, Apple would continue to reduce the size of the Dynamic Island. It would not disappear yet, but it would be more discreet, taking up less space and going more unnoticed in daily use.
The big change would start in its folding. There Apple plans hide Face ID under the screen. That means the sensors would still be there, but they would no longer be visible. Even so, the front camera would still need a small hole in the screen, so it would not yet be that perfect “all screen”, but it would be very close.
The final goal would arrive in 2027. That would be the year in which Apple would finally launch a iPhone with front camera also under the screen. At that point, holes, islands, and cutouts would completely disappear. The entire front would be a single continuous screen, something that would mark an important change in the design of the iPhone.
Why do they take so long? Basically, because Apple does not want to sacrifice quality. Putting sensors and cameras under the screen is not easy, and doing so without losing reliability in Face ID or quality in front photos is even more complicated. Apple prefers to go step by step rather than launch something that doesn't work as they expect.
In short, the all-screen iPhone is not smoke, nor future marketing, nor a prototype created by a random Internet user, as we have always seen, but rather it is in the plans, but it will arrive little by little. If everything goes as Apple hopes, 2027 would be the year in which we would finally see that clean design that they have been promising for years without saying it directly.
