Sometimes, you have to be very careful with the cell phone you buy, or it could endanger your health. This is what happened in France, where they recalled up to 59 smartphones due to exceeding electromagnetic wave emission limits. So, be careful if you own one.

A very high emission of electromagnetic waves can pose a potential danger to users. The measure, imposed and promoted by the French National Frequencies Agency, highlights the growing vigilance surrounding the increasing levels of radiation emitted by common devices such as cell phones.

The danger of radiation levels

The report by Phonegate Alert emphasizes the importance of SAR, also known as Specific Absorption Rate. This refers to the amount of radiofrequency energy absorbed by the human body when using a smartphone. There are established SAR limits that brands must strictly adhere to to ensure user safety, and these limits vary depending on the part of the body.

Many organizations are concerned about the cause because some manufacturers may be completely ignoring this standard, which has led to growing concerns about radiation levels. The Phonegate Alert statement compiles a long list of models that have been recalled in France, with the most affected being Ulefone and Oukitel, two Chinese mobile phone brands known for their durability and resistance. Tests conducted by the organization have revealed a “significant breach” of the imposed SAR limits, and they are not the only ones involved.

A worrying situation

Some of the most popular models are included here, although you can check out the full list in the Phonegate Alert report. Many of these phones are several years old, so it’s understandable that they don’t fit current standards. However, if you have one of these models, we recommend that you start looking for a new phone as soon as possible to avoid putting your health at risk.

France’s situation regarding radiation levels is serious, although Phonegate Alert has criticized the National Frequency Agency’s slowness in publishing non-compliance reports. This can make it difficult for users to detect whether their personal phone is among the highest-emitting devices, so it is the responsibility of both organizations and manufacturers to ensure user well-being.
