After the release of the new AirTag model, many people wonder if it is really worth it, and if the differences between both versions are enough to change one for the other, when not even Apple has called it anything else, and it is still called AirTag, without the number 2 or anything to distinguish it from the first.

Differences between AirTag models
Apple has finally renewed the AirTag, and although on the outside it seems exactly the same as always, inside there are changes that are noticeable on a daily basis. The AirTag 2 does not reinvent the idea, but it does polish many details that made the original model fall a little short over the years.
The most important improvement is in the new second-generation ultra-wideband chip. Thanks to it, the precise search function now works from further away and more reliably. This means that you don't have to be practically on top of your keys or backpack for the iPhone to guide you to them with arrows and vibrations.
Another welcome change is the speaker. Apple has made it much more powerful, so now the sound is heard better when the AirTag is in a bag, under the couch, or in another room. It may seem like a minor detail, but it saves many minutes of searching when you hear something in the distance, but you don't know how to orient yourself to where it was.
Also improves overall range thanks to more efficient Bluetoothwhich helps the Search network find your items more easily. In addition, for the first time, the precise search also works from the compatible Apple Watch, something very convenient if you don't have the iPhone at hand.
The good thing is that Apple has not touched what already worked well: same design, same button cell, same battery life of more than a year and the same price (lower in Spain). You can even continue using the accessories you already had, because on the outside, as we said, it is the same.
