While iOS 19 will only be revealed to developers next June, at WWDC 25, here is already the first leak. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the software update will introduce a major upgrade to Siri, making the assistant more conversational and capable than ever.
Siri will finally become smarter
Our colleague confirmed that iOS 19 will bring Siri powered by large, advanced language models, transforming it into a more sophisticated AI assistant similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Thanks to this evolution, Siri will be able to handle complex and nuanced queries, significantly improving its usefulness.
Apple is expected to introduce the updated Siri alongside iOS 19 during its WWDC 2025 keynote, but users may have to wait until spring 2026 for its public release. Gurman suggests the feature will debut in an iOS 19.4 update, almost six months after launch.
Delayed Features
For the American journalist, the new Siri is not the only one falling behind. Several new features, not detailed in the report, have apparently been postponed until the release of iOS 19.4 in spring 2026.
In the meantime, iOS 18 continues to evolve, laying the foundation for AI advancements:
- iOS 18.2 (expected December 2024) will add basic ChatGPT integration to Siri, enabling a taste of conversational AI.
- Future updates like iOS 18.4 will introduce features like on-screen recognition, improved per-app Siri controls, and more refined capabilities, although Siri’s conversational skills will remain limited compared to what’s planned for iOS 19 .
In a year and a half, iPhone users may have less need for third-party AI services like ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini. Until then, we will be entitled to an improved assistant in French in spring 2025, with Apple Intelligence which will no longer be exclusive to English speakers.
