Nothing has just presented two new mid-range phones with an unusual argument at this price: periscope telephoto lens on both models. It is not the most common when we talk about less than 500 euros.
He Nothing Phone (4a) It starts at 349 euros and comes with a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen at 120 Hz and up to 4,500 nits of brightness, protected with Gorilla Glass 7i. The processor is the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4the battery reaches 5,080 mAh with 50 W fast charging – it promises to reach 60% in 30 minutes – and will be available in blue, pink and black.
Nothing Phone (4a): Periscope and Glyph renewed
In photography, the Phone (4a) has a 50 MP main sensor with OIS and, as the main novelty, a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom. It is completed by a Sony wide angle and a 32 MP front camera. The Glyph Bar interface is also renewed: 63 mini-LEDs divided into seven light zones, up to 3,500 nits of brightness, with support for notifications, timers or fill light for video. A level of detail in design that few manufacturers at this price bother to work on.

He Nothing Phone (4a) Profrom 479 euros, raises the specifications in almost everything. Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, 6.83-inch screen in 1.5K resolution at 144 Hz with 5,000 peak nits, 7.95 mm unibody metal chassis with IP65 resistance. The main sensor moves to the Sony LYT700C and the periscope telephoto lens reaches a 140x maximum zoomthe largest in the history of the brand. The Glyph Matrix expands the proposal with 137 mini-LEDs capable of displaying widgets, the digital clock or the battery level, although its daily usefulness will depend greatly on each user.

Software and direct competition
Both models arrive with Nothing OS 4.1 on Android 16with redesigned icons, floating apps and a control panel for AI functions. Nothing promises three years of Android updates and six of security patches, an adequate support cycle for its price range.
The problem is that these phones are going to compete directly with the Google Pixel 10a and the iPhone 17e. Nothing has a differential design and solid specifications on paper in its favor, but Google has been refining its photographic software for years and Apple has a loyalty capacity that few brands match. The 140x zoom is an eye-catching argument, but the real test will be the image quality in everyday conditions. That's what will decide whether Nothing's positioning makes sense beyond the announcement.
