Apple is preparing to roll out a series of important software updates next week, including iOS 18.1 with the first Apple Intelligence features (not yet in France). But another update for the iPhone is also in the works for those who don’t want to upgrade to iOS 18: iOS 17.7.1.
Important security fixes
This next version of iOS 17 focuses on important security fixes. Alongside the Release Candidate beta versions of iOS 18.1, macOS Sequoia 15.1, and others, Apple also surprised by unveiling a beta for iOS 17.7.1, which had not been tested before.

As a reminder, iOS 17.7 was launched last month alongside iOS 18. However, for most users, iOS 17.7 was the prioritized update in the Settings app, while iOS 18 remained an optional option . So, for those who haven’t yet made the transition to iOS 18, iOS 17.7.1 will bring some essential security fixes, although we don’t have the exhaustive list yet.
The public release date of iOS 17.7.1 has not yet been specified, but it is likely that this update will be available next week, probably on October 28, at the same time as iOS 18.1.
