While some competitors have already started rolling out Android 15 on their smartphones, Samsung is a little behind this year. Indeed, the manufacturer has still not released One UI 7, the version of its operating system which will be based on Android 15. But the good news is that this week, it finally launched the tests in beta of this new OS for the Galaxy S24 series models.
New AI features in One UI 7
And in its announcement, Samsung also presents new productivity features, based on artificial intelligence, which will boost the productivity of users of its high-end models. First of all, Samsung will update the writing assistant already available on Galaxy AI, offering a new tool that will be available wherever text can be selected. In essence, after selecting a text, the user can request artificial intelligence to summarize the content, check spelling and grammar, or even rewrite the content in the form of bulleted notes.
Thanks to the One UI 7 update, Samsung will also save you from taking notes while you’re on the phone. In fact, the Korean giant will offer a functionality that will automatically transcribe calls. This feature will support the French language.
Otherwise, Samsung also offers some improvements to the interface of its smartphones. For example, One UI 7 will offer a feature called Now Bar on the lock screen, which will highlight current activities on applications.
When will One UI 7 be available?
Unfortunately, beta testing will still take some time. And Samsung says One UI 7 will arrive with its new devices, with the new AI-based features, in the first quarter of 2025.
It remains to be seen whether Samsung will be faster next year to deploy Android 16. As a reminder, Google has completely revised the update schedule for its operating system. Android 16, which should normally be released in the second half of 2025, will be launched in the second quarter. On the other hand, another smaller version of the operating system will be launched in the last quarter of 2025.
