There is less left until the departure of the first foldable iPhone in historywhich is scheduled for autumn 2026, so the rumors are starting to get stronger, and we already know many of its characteristics, which although they are not 100% confirmed, it seems that they are true.
Today, we will review the 3 most interesting new features of this model, which make the difference with any other iPhone from the company, although we will also see it reflected in the price, so it will not be available to all users.
What the foldable iPhone will bring
Apple's next generation foldable (usually known in the media as the “iPhone Fold”, despite not knowing its name) aims to be a very ambitious leap in the world of smartphones, and the most recent rumors suggest three key features that could differentiate it from the rest.
Firstly, it is said that it will incorporate a camera under the interior screen with a 24 megapixel sensor, a level much higher than the typical 4-8 MP offered by current Android foldables. That improvement (if confirmed) would mean a significant change in quality, especially in selfies or video calls from the interior screen.
In addition, Apple would have solved the famous “crease problem” in the foldable screen: thanks to a new hinge design and adjustments to the panel, the screen when unfolded could not show any visible mark in the fold, something that until now remains an Achilles heel in foldables. In addition, this component would be cheaper than usual, reducing costs and price of the device.
On the other hand, the iPhone Fold would also have a much more generous battery than that of the current models: rumors estimate a capacity between 5,400 and 5,800 mAh, which could make it the largest battery ever mounted on an iPhone, even surpassing recent high-end ones, due, above all, to the space it would have for it.
Regarding the format, the iPhone Fold would arrive in a “book-type” design: 7.8 inch indoor main screenexterior screen of about 5.5 inches, and probably with Touch ID instead of Face ID. In the camera system, in addition to the under-screen camera, a punch-hole front camera and a dual 48 MP rear camera are expected.
If all this is confirmed, the iPhone Fold could arrive at the end of 2026, along with the iPhone 18 Pro series. But not everything will be cheap: its estimated price in the US would be between 2,000 and 2,500 dollarswhich would make it the most expensive iPhone to date.
In short: foldable screen without visible folds, high-resolution interior camera and large capacity battery. If Apple manages to deliver these three “revolutions” without sacrificing usability or design, the iPhone Fold could rewrite the rules of foldable smartphones.
And you, what do you think of all this? Do you think it will be an iPhone that is worth it for the price it will have, or do you prefer one of the normal ones like we have now? Leave us a comment with your opinion.
