One of those key points that Apple improves year after year is the camera, so the next model was not going to be less, and its lenses, objectives, and other components of the module have already begun to be prepared, so we are going to see everything related to this.
What will the iPhone 18 camera be like?
Although there is still time to see the iPhone 18, behind the scenes many of the gears that will make it possible are already being prepared. According to a report from MacRumorsseveral Apple suppliers have begun to move strongly, especially those related to the camera, one of the most anticipated sections in each generation of the iPhone.
The South Korean company Doosan Tesna, which collaborates closely with Samsung, announced that it will invest about $123 million to buy new test equipment from companies such as Advantest, Semes and Japan Interaction. In simple words, this means that they are improving their machines to be able review and check camera chips before they are used in products like the iPhone. This entire process will be carried out little by little until 2027 and will serve to detect failures more accurately and ensure that each component works perfectly before reaching the consumer.
All of this points to Samsung strengthening its role within Apple's supply chain. Its new image sensor plant in Austin, Texas, could become a critical partner for future iPhone 18. In fact, if the results are good, Samsung could break Sony's historical dominance in this field, something that Apple has been trying for some time to avoid depending on a single supplier, since, in case you didn't know, Apple does not make its own components (except for some specific ones).
Another interesting detail is that Doosan has decided to stop using the Teradyne company's technology to switch to that of Advantest. The latter offers more modern and powerful equipment, designed for test very advanced chipssuch as those used in artificial intelligence or graphics cards. That is, they are leveling up. This could be a clue that the cameras of the future iPhone 18 will have more complex sensors with much higher performance than the ones we know today.
Simply put, although the iPhone 18 hasn't even been shown yet, work behind the scenes is already in full motion. The companies that manufacture its components are investing millions and adjusting strategies to catch up with what Apple wants to achieve. Everything indicates that the company plans to greatly improve the camera of its next iPhone, and that this time it does not plan to wait until the last moment, although honestly, it is difficult for this section to improve much, when it already has a more than impressive quality.
